Condolences
Sympathies are extended to the McElligott family, Ballinorig following the recent sudden passing of Eddie Joe McElligott. Eddie Joe was always very active in the community and was part of the original Community Care Centre committee in the 80’s and also the more recent committee that was responsible for the building of the Community Care Centre that we have today. He had a great love of playing cards and until recently would play in the Centre on Wednesday evenings.
Above all Eddie Joe was a proud Ballinorig and Kilmoyley man, he will be sadly missed. Requiem Mass for Eddie Joe took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Kilmoyley on Thursday with a number of groups participating in a guard of honour. Burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Sincere Condolences to Maurice, Liam, Siobhán, Noreen, Darragh, Colm, Aoife, Niamh, Sam, Shauna, Ellie, Flynn, extended family and many friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
Scoil Naomh Eirc, Kilmoyley
The whole school are very proud of our Cumann na mBunscol hurling team who performed so well in the division 2 final last Wednesday. A great effort by all involved but alas it was not to be our day. Congratulations to Killury National School – it was a very exciting match! A big thank you once again to Mrs. Crowe, Mr. Coffey, Ollie and Pádraig for looking after our team this year and to all of the other parents and staff members for their continued support. It was fantastic to see such a wonderful crowd in Abbeydorney yesterday to cheer on our finalists. We will look forward to next year and hopefully reach another final.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes had their final hurling session on Friday with GDA coach Giles O’Grady. Giles has organised for our 2nd and 3rd classes to take part in a blitz this week against a number of local schools which is very exciting. Thank you to Giles for coming to the school every fortnight since last September and working with all of the classes. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. On Wednesday, some of our 5th and 6th Class girls headed off to Abbeydorney to take part in a Cumann na mBunscol Camogie blitz.
The girls played two games, winning their first game but losing their second, unfortunately, after a fantastic performance. A big thank you to Mrs. Crowe and Gerald Carroll for looking after the team.
Silver circle – Week 2 Winners: 1st prize €50 Ciaran Sheehy (Ciaran’s card). 2nd prize €30 Saoirse Collins (Saoirse’s card). 3rd prize €20 Nora Diggin (Tadhg Diggin’s card). Thanks to everyone for the support of our fundraising draw.
