Finally! Schedule to Multiple Classes in Google Classroom

If you teach multiple sections in Google Classroom you need the ability to schedule assignments for multiple classes. Prior to the recent announcement, the “Schedule” option was greyed out if you selected multiple classes. Wait no more. No more workarounds, Google Classroom now allows you to schedule assignments to multiple classes.

Select Multiple Classes

By default, when adding an assignment to a class it is only being added to the current class. Clicking on the class title in the right sidebar allows you to select multiple classes.

Assignments are NOT linked together

When assigning to multiple classes the assignment COPIES to each class. This means that updates to one assignment will NOT be reflected in the copies. Be ready to

Secondly, click on the arrow on the “Assign” button to select “Schedule.” For EACH class, then select the date and time to schedule. Additionally, you have the option to “Publish now.”

Copy Settings to All

Tip: Set the topic, due date, and scheduling time for the first class. Click on “Copy settings to all.” It is easier to make minor changes, even to the first class, than to set the settings for each class.

Different Due Dates

For a variety of reasons having the same due date for all classes does not always work. The new feature of scheduling to multiple classes allows you to select the day and time the assignment is due. Select the due date for each class that works the best.
